Glimpse into the future of public transport in Ahmedabad

  • Modern Electric Fleet: Answering the call for sustainable transport, these buses are electric, boasting a remarkable range of 120 kilometers on a single charge. This eco-friendly move is a testament to the city’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
  • Passenger Capacity: Each bus can comfortably accommodate 60 to 65 passengers, making them an efficient mode of transport for the bustling city streets.
  • Investment in the Future: With a substantial investment of 5 crores through a tendering process, these electric double-deckers are a significant financial commitment to upgrading the city’s transport infrastructure.
  • Carefully Curated Routes: The routes for these buses are being meticulously planned. They will avoid areas with underbridges to ensure a smooth and unhindered journey across the city.
  • Expansion Plans: Looking ahead, AMTS is not stopping at double-deckers. The service has ambitious plans to expand its fleet by another 300 buses. This expansion will include 100 mini AC buses and 200 regular buses, catering to the growing demand for public transport in Ahmedabad.

This initiative is more than just about reintroducing a mode of transport; it’s about embracing progress while honoring the past. The reintroduction of double-decker buses is poised to symbolize Ahmedabad’s dynamic growth and its continued dedication to sustainable development.

Residents and visitors alike can look forward to experiencing the city from the unique vantage point these buses offer, wrapped in the comfort of modern technology. Keep an eye on the horizon, for the Ahmedabad skyline will soon be graced with the nostalgic silhouette of double-decker buses once more.
