Sakat Chauth fast is observed on the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of Magh month. Indian Women observe this fast for the longevity and success of their children. With the effect of this fast, the child gets Riddhi-Siddhi and Lord Ganesha removes all the obstacles coming in his life.
On this day, women keep a water-free fast throughout the day and consume water only after worshiping Ganesh and offering Arghya to the moon in the evening. Some of the women keep a fast with feral during the day with having a moriya for fasting only.
On this day, Sankat Haran Ganpati is worshipped. On this day, Vidya, Buddhi, Varidhi Ganesha and Moon are worshipped.
