There is an interesting history behind the construction of the Salangpur Hanuman Temple. After Swaminarayan Bhagwan’s meditation, his follower Gopalananda Swami visited the Botad village of Bhavnagar to spread satsang-bhakti. The Sant of Salangpur expressed their grief to the Gopalananda Swami and said that it had not rained in the village for 3-3 years and due to the lack of financial condition of the village, even the monks and saints are not visiting the place.

On hearing the distress of the sant, the Gopalananda Swami said, I will give you such debts which will fulfill the welfare and desires of the whole world. He painted the image of Hanumanji with his own hands on a stone at Padar of Salangpur village. Then a carpenter named Kana Kadia was called and an idol was carved out of that rock and the temple was constructed.
